Since I was a child, my family has had a passion for old, vintage objects and an interest in quirky everyday trinkets. Their ability to make something old seem new again has always intrigued me. I chose twenty previously used objects my family has collected and brought back to life by creating back stories for each object and shooting them as if they were in those settings. My creative writer for the project, Rachel Dillon, would craft a short blurb setting the scene, allowing viewers to paint a mental picture of how these objects came from. Below, you’ll find a glimpse of my photo book, "Another Man’s Treasure," my installation at the Steel Plant Art Gallery, and close-up samples of some spreads!

1950s Diner Phone

My dad found this phone on the side of the road before I was born. We used this as our home phone for a while when I was a kid. When you’d pick up the phone, you could see little figures inside, sitting at booths and talking to each other.

Gumball Machine

I found this at a flea market for $3 and fell in love with it. The metal detailing in the front was just so interesting. It currently sits on my desk at home, filled with skittles (since I don’t chew gum)!

Travel Scrabble

I was helping my uncle run a flea market booth in Connecticut when I saw him put this out. The metal board would fold out and there was a bag of mini magnetic letters to make it easier to play while traveling. I hadn’t seen anything like it before and he let me take it home in exchange for helping him run his booth.
